Bogotá is a huge, hostile city and full of surprises. Being the largest city in Colombia and with a population of almost 8 million people, finding peace or a place to be calm
Photos of the old Luvina bookshop
is one of the most difficult tasks, a task that becomes even more difficult when taking into account the 1,775 kilometres of surface that the city entails (Álvarez, 2021).
Fortunately, this task has several answers and today it is the turn of: The cultural corner located in La Macarena neighbourhood, exactly on Carrera 5 ( 5th avenue) with calle 26C (26th street).
For 18 years it was the home of a bookstore called Luvina, a place founded in honor of the Mexican writer Juan Rulfo (Botero, 2015). In Luvina, however, not only did books find their home, it was also a cultural space where many events took place, such as photographic exhibitions and social gatherings, coffee was sold and, most importantly, it was a fairly quiet space where you could go and have a romantic date.
Unfortunately, as a result of the pandemic and the restrictions imposed in Bogotá during the health emergency, Luvina had to migrate to virtuality along with its large catalog of books, leaving this corner uninhabited after almost 2 decades (Díaz, 2022).
Well, now, don't get discouraged. A magical place like this found a new host, one that will be able to give a new home to all the elements that inhabited Luvina for so long. Its name is Matorral, a bookstore that will open its third location on this corner and that, hopefully, can continue the legacy of such a beautiful and emblematic corner.
Finally, we invite those who read this news to get closer and be able to share new experiences, feelings and dreams with one another.
Well, besides finding everything that was already mentioned, it can be the beginning of a beautiful love story, just as it was for the author of this article.
